Today’s card was made for Operation Write Home (OWH). When making cards that are going to be handled a lot (shippers, packers, organizers, overseas mail), it is important to make cards that will stand up to the rigors. If you are interested in making cards for our soldiers to mail to their own families, you want the card you make to arrive safely to the intended recipient. When I make cards for OWH I try to limit the “bumpy” embellishments, such as large buttons, heavy ribbon and decorative brads/jewels. I use products that can be safely “smashed” in the postal machines, without tearing the envelope. To keep cards from sticking to each other, I do not use glue dots. I use liquid glue and “Stampin’Dimensionals.” I use texture folders and creases to get the desired “raised” effect. Before you make cards to mail, go to the mail room link at OWH. If you lack inspiration, The OWH link has dozens of sketches for you to translate into your own style.
All of the products listed are available 24/7 from my online Stampin’ Up! store, unless otherwise indicated.
