Our Daily Bread – Circle Challenge

Standard

This month’s challenge from “Our Daily Bread,” is to create cards that have a circle in them.  This card has a ton of circles in it, most are subtle, but they are there!  This is one of the easiest cards I have ever done.

Also, if you are interested in an update on my Advocare 24-Day Challenge, my progress is listed below the card.

Here goes:
Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler (SU) and White (Papertry Ink).  Ink used: Cherry Cobbler (SU), Versamark with white embossing powder (SU).  Stamp Sets: Four Seasons (SU Hostess Set), Blooming With Kindness (SU)

The sentiment frame was cut with an Apothecary Accents Framelit (SU).  Punch Used:  2 3/8 Scallop Circle (SU).  I used Basic Jewels- Rhinestones (SU) to embellish the card.  The white snowflake background was embossed with a Tim Holtz “Alterations” embossing folder.

All products, unless otherwise listed are from Stampin’ Up! and can be purchased through my SU store – Link to your right.

Four Seasons – Winter Scallop

Advocare Journey:

I wasn’t going to weigh till day 24 of the challenge, when I will include “inches lost,” but had to go to an dr. appt, which required a weigh in.

So:  On day 18 of the Challenge, I was down 15.5 lbs.

Craft Paper Challenge-OWH

Standard

What is craft paper, you ask?  Craft paper is a brown paper that looks like a supermarket bag, or khaki’s.  Todays MWT (Midweek Throwdown) challenge for OWH (Operation Write Home), was to make a card of craft paper with a few other colors.  I have never made a card where craft paper was the “star.”

This wasn’t too hard to design, because “Crumb Cake” is my all time favorite card stock.  I use it with most of my cards.  It goes with everything!  The embossing makes the top piece stand out while highlighting the sentiment.

I am happy to report all of the supplies used ARE Stampin’ Up! and are currently available 24/7 at my online store.

So, here goes, the recipe is below:

You’re Amazing Crumb Cake

Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse

Inks:  Midnight Muse, Cherry Cobbler and Summer Starfruit

Stamp Set:  You’re Amazing, from the World Spectacular Suite  (I love this suite!).

Tools:  Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Apothecary Accents Framelit, Big Shot, Paper Piercing Tool, Essential Paper-Piercing Pak, Stampin’ Pierce Mat.  You will notice the piercing mat matches the design of the Framelit.

Embellishments:  Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, silver mini brads.

Christmas in July

Standard

This weeks Midweek Throwdown Challenge for Operation Write Home, was to make Christmas Cards.  I was hopeful a Christmas Card or two would make me feel a bit cooler, but alas, not even snowy card stock images are a match for the San Joaquin valley heat!  I used most of the same supplies for both cards, one serious and one fun!  Hope you enjoy!

Card #1 – Fancy Christmas

Supplies used are all Stampin’Up! and are currently available unless otherwise noted, 24/7 at my Online Store.

Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler card stock,  Pewter embossing powder with heat tool, Scallop Trim border punch.  I used a piece of silver elastic trim purchased from a local craft store, for the bow.

These products are brand new this year and will be available in the Holiday Catalog effective Aug. 1st:

Joyous Celebrations and Ornament Keepsakes stamp sets, Holiday Ornaments Framelits, and my favorite, the Holiday Frame Textured Impressions embossing folder.

Holiday Frame Christmas

World Spectacular Hero – OWH Sketch #128

Standard

Today’s “sketch challenge” for Operation Write Home, was to create a card using “Sketch #128.”  One of the great things about Operation Write Home, is the abundant library of card sketches with measurements and examples for you to copy and share, or for your own use.  The card challenges offered during the week, allow me to stretch my card making brain and explore different ideas and color pallets I would not normally try.

This card is also an “Any Hero” card.  In addition to cards made for soldiers to write home on, OWHer’s also send a quantity of cards to thank Heroes for their service.  Since I don’t know who exactly will receive this card, it is addressed to “Any Hero,” and will be distributed when it arrives at the destination base.  Since Any Hero cards won’t be mailed back to the States. this card can have lumpier embellishments without the fear of the envelope being destroyed.

All products unless otherwise listed can be purchased online 24/7 from my Stampin’ Up! store.  All proceeds from purchases from my online store go to supplies for Operation Write Home cards and donations.
