The Things I do:

I spent five years creating and donating hand made blank greeting cards for Operation Write Home.  This organization stopped receiving cards in August 2015.

After a nearly two year hiatus from making military cards, I have found smaller organizations that are making an effort to provide our deployed service men and women with the opportunity to have hand crafted cards to send home to their families.  Needless to say, I am back in “action,” doing what I love for a purpose.

Other than paper crafting, I enjoy camping and spending time with family and friends.

About Me

My name is Lori L.  I am a retired police officer from the central San Joaquin Valley, in California.

If you had told me several years ago I would be making hand-made cards and paper-crafting, I would have told you that you were crazy!

MY PAPER “ADDICTION” (How it started)

Approximately seven years ago, I was invited to a “Make and Take,” party by a friend.  I understood that I was going to learn how to make Christmas Cards.  Bored with being retired I was looking for fun stuff to do with friends. 

Our Hostess was a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  I found I could make beautiful hand-made cards with an assortment of matching papers, card stock, stamps and embellishments.  With very little effort and the guidance of our Hostess, I had created professional-looking cards.  I was hooked!  Soon I was exploring techniques and products and showering my family with cards.   

One can only “shower one’s family” with cards for so long.  One can only find so many occasions for “card showering.”

I searched organizations that welcome hand made cards, and that is how I found out about Operation Write Home.

What I am Doing Now

I continue to explore paper-crafting in the form of 3-D items like boxes and flowers, scrapbook pages and home decor.  I am constantly trying to perfect my techniques and am excited to learn new things.

My paper crafting passion is to make cards for deployed military personnel to send home to their families.  As a result, most of the cards I make are flat with few embellishments, so they are easier to mail, and won’t get chewed up in a postal machine.

I am in daily contact via Facebook with other Operation Write Home “refugees,” who pursue similar organizations to provide cards for.
