Hexagons – Midweek Throw-down

This week’s midweek throw-down is to make cards with hexagons.  My SU honeycomb embossing folder was perfect, however, there is not a punch that fits the folder.  The hexagon inserts were cut by first embossing the DSP with the same folder, and then cutting out the hexagons with scissors.  The Bee seems to reoccur often on this blog.  I think he just so much fun and “Springy.”

The Bee image and sentiment are from “Inky Antics” 10087MC Bumblebee.  All other supplies used were from SU.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

“Card Bowl 2014” – OWH Superbowl

It is Super Bowl weekend, which is a super time to make some cards.  I will use this page as I complete the challenges.

Card #1 “Masculine Ode to Teams”

The first challenge is “Masculine Ode To the Teams.”  Since the Niners are out of it, I am going with the Broncos.  This card is a non-frilly “thank you” CAS card any man, or woman for that matter, would be happy to have to send to someone here at home who has taken the time to remember them in some way.  There is nothing “Bronco” obvious about it, and I think blue and orange are great anytime colors.  I also got to use some just out of the box SU toys I had ordered, plus some scraps.

"Bronco" Thank You

Recipe:  All products used are from Stampin’ Up!

CS:  Midnight Muse, Pumpkin Pie  Colors: Pumpkin Pie and Midnight Muse inks

DSP:  A scrap from my stash

Stamp Sets: “Lots of Thanks,” and “Banner Blast.”

Tools:  Banner punch, Bitty Shapes star punch, Argyle embossing folder, “Calypso Coral” and white bakers’ twine.

Card #2 – Our Daily Bread Designs February Color Challenge – Brown

This card is a masculine card using the color brown.  You can see it is the same design as Card #1.  The SU colors here are “Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.” The stamp is from a retired set called “Loved Ones.”

Card #3 – Sketch #210

I went “quick and easy” since I have lots to do today with Church and then a Super Bowl party!  I did make one correction to the measurements on this sketch, making the center piece (blue) 2.5 x 4.5, since that matched the examples of the sketch.  The red/blue diamonds on the bottom of the card were colored with sharpies.  Hope you all enjoy your day.
