“Triple Time Dare…”

Standard

Silly me.  I finished a box of 84 cards to send to Operation Write Home, and was getting ready to clean my “disaster area” aka craft room when (you know what is coming,), I checked the OWH website to check out the “Midweek Throwdown

Challenge.”  Two hours later, I am posting this card as my entry!  Disaster area will need to be “roped off, I guess.”

This week’s challenge was to make “cards of encouragement” for the heroes to send home.  This one had me stuck.  I usually think the heroes are the ones who need encouragement, but the people left at home, certainly need it too.  What to say, what to say.  I checked out my own gallery.  Finding nothing inspirational for the challenge, I went to the “Stampin’ Connection” website (another perk of being a demonstrator), and found the instructions for what is called a “Triple Time” card.

I had been seeing these layered cards pop up on the card sites and thought they were beautiful, but my little brain could not figure out the “rocket science” required to construct one.  Fortunately Dawn O., had an instructional video on the “Stampin’ Connection” site.

OMG, this card was so easy!  Basically you stack three sizes of your neutral stock and stamp them at the same time.  The “frames” are 1/4 inch larger on each side than the stamped stock.  The bottom frame is actually the card base.

All products used are Stampin’ Up! unless otherwise noted, and are currently available at my online store.  Shop online for your 10% discount and have the products shipped directly to you.

Recipe:  Card stock – “Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla”

Inks Used: “River Rock, Primrose Petals,” and the sentiment was an accidental blend of leftover “Primrose Petals and River Rock” (forgot to clean the stamp, but loved the result).

Stamp Sets Used:  “Blooming with Kindness, Loving Thoughts and Simply Soft (retired Hostess set).”

To Embellish, I wrapped linen thread and added an “Antique Brad.”  The second layer is lifted off of the  bottom layer by using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

You will want to do this card, so here are the measurements: Card Base – 5.5 x 8.5.  Fold in half to create one 5.5 x 4.25 card.  The other two layers are 3.25 x 4.5 and 2.25 x 3.5.  For the neutral layer cut three pieces of card stock as follows:2 x 3.25, 3 x 4.25 and 4 x 5.25.  Stack your neutral card stock one atop another, centered.  You can use a tiny bit of tacky glue to adhere them while you stamp.  Stamp your images.  Separate the neutral stamped layers and adhere them to the frames (same as the card base)  Adhere layer one to layer two, embellish.  Attach layer two to layer three with dimensionals.

    • Get this…we may have a sprinkling of snow next week! It wont stick but it sndous crazy to be getting it already. I LOL with this post. I enjoyed your characters in the doll house. I wish I could still put my kids in the bath together. My boy is getting too big to be in the tub with little sis. : ( We’ve had to start teaching him about all that fun stuff. : ( Thankfully when all the lights are out and our sky is pitch black, no street lights here, I can still snuggle next to him in bed and remember his newborn breath against my cheak. Oh and Fall. It really happens here. I use to live in the land of eternal sunshine and it will be nice to have seasons. I’m so excited. It was 80 today but I still put on my cords. Cheers!

    • I love the dollhouse. My hunsbad and I spent an insane amount of time building a wooden dollhouse with one of those kits from Hobby Lobby, and then painting it (because I didn’t read the instructions). Apparently, you’re supposed to paint it before you put it together because it’s easier that way. I tend to do things the hard way. I thought it would be the most fabulous thing Santa ever delivered, but it sadly spends a lot of time just collecting dust. She likes it, she plays with it, but only after she’s tried on every single dress-up outfit she owns and half the things in her closet while playing the harmonica, the flute or the fiddle. Girlfriend has an imagination, and she always imagines herself as the star of her imaginings, not some little 4-inch family with a tiny house. I love it anyway. I don’t know if I can get rid of it ever after all that work, and it looks cute in the corner of her room.
