“Triple Time Dare…”

Silly me.  I finished a box of 84 cards to send to Operation Write Home, and was getting ready to clean my “disaster area” aka craft room when (you know what is coming,), I checked the OWH website to check out the “Midweek Throwdown

Challenge.”  Two hours later, I am posting this card as my entry!  Disaster area will need to be “roped off, I guess.”

This week’s challenge was to make “cards of encouragement” for the heroes to send home.  This one had me stuck.  I usually think the heroes are the ones who need encouragement, but the people left at home, certainly need it too.  What to say, what to say.  I checked out my own gallery.  Finding nothing inspirational for the challenge, I went to the “Stampin’ Connection” website (another perk of being a demonstrator), and found the instructions for what is called a “Triple Time” card.

I had been seeing these layered cards pop up on the card sites and thought they were beautiful, but my little brain could not figure out the “rocket science” required to construct one.  Fortunately Dawn O., had an instructional video on the “Stampin’ Connection” site.

OMG, this card was so easy!  Basically you stack three sizes of your neutral stock and stamp them at the same time.  The “frames” are 1/4 inch larger on each side than the stamped stock.  The bottom frame is actually the card base.

Recipe:  Card stock – “Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla”

Inks Used: “River Rock, Primrose Petals,” and the sentiment was an accidental blend of leftover “Primrose Petals and River Rock” (forgot to clean the stamp, but loved the result).

Stamp Sets Used:  “Blooming with Kindness, Loving Thoughts and Simply Soft (retired Hostess set).”

To Embellish, I wrapped linen thread and added an “Antique Brad.”  The second layer is lifted off of the  bottom layer by using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

You will want to do this card, so here are the measurements: Card Base – 5.5 x 8.5.  Fold in half to create one 5.5 x 4.25 card.  The other two layers are 3.25 x 4.5 and 2.25 x 3.5.  For the neutral layer cut three pieces of card stock as follows:2 x 3.25, 3 x 4.25 and 4 x 5.25.  Stack your neutral card stock one atop another, centered.  You can use a tiny bit of tacky glue to adhere them while you stamp.  Stamp your images.  Separate the neutral stamped layers and adhere them to the frames (same as the card base)  Adhere layer one to layer two, embellish.  Attach layer two to layer three with dimensionals.
